Mad Ladies part III - five hairs!

« previous entry | next entry »
Feb. 2nd, 2011 | 11:04 am

Raided the sims community for hairs with retro qualities, most of these meshes are old and they do have their share of issues, nothing serious though but if you're sensitive about mapping and stuff - you have been warned.

First up a Xhander/Sims2sisters hair. Maybe not very retro but nice!
All of Pooklet's naturals, binned, familied, compressorized, (young)Adult-Elder. Xandher's texture but I blended some of Pooklet's in there to tone down some highlights.
Credits: Sims2sisters for mesh, Xandher for retexture, Pooklet for extra textures and colours.

And old rose hair with cleaned up alpha by me because I need some more updos for my mad ladies.
All of Pooklet's naturals, binned, familied, compressorized, Teen-Elder. Rose's original was for Child-Elder but I removed the child stage because it was really gappy.
Credits: Rose for mesh and barette texture, Pooklet for textures and colours.

Of all the times I've browsed through Rose's donation hairs I've never taken a second glance at this because I thought it was weird. Until now, when I saw some potential for my vintage project. It just needed some alpha work and now I quite like it.
All of Pooklet's naturals, binned, familied, compressorized, Child-Elder (and quite cute on the kids I might add)
Credits: Rose for mesh, Pooklet for textures and colours.

Old, like really old, Sunair hair that I've always liked the shape of. It has issues, some wonkage mapping on the top for example, but I really like it. Some alpha work by me, some original Sunair texture left but blended with Pooklet.
All of Pooklet's naturals, binned, familied, compressorized. (young)Adult-Elder.
Credits: Sunair for mesh and some texture, Pooklet for textures and colours.

And last but definitely not least because I'm quite happy with this, a store hair NYMPHYFIED! Yes! Been wanting to use those lovely textures for real on a hair (I used them to make some braids recently but that hardly counts!). Alpha gave me a little bit of hell but it was worth it.
All of Pooklet's naturals, binned, familied, compressorized, (young)Adult-Elder.
Credits: EA for mesh, Nymphy for textures and alpha bits, Pooklet for colours, budgie_budgie for gracefully sharing her stuff with me.

oh, Rose 69 and sunair hair looks so sweet! Thank you! Too bad sunair ist tsr... ah well, I'll pretend you have purified it with your alpha work.^^
That'd be my second exception for tsr things then, the first being Dr Pixel's '64 Thunderbird. I noticed that in the previews of Mad Ladies I, and I really tried not to ask, but my addiction is showing. -_- I lost that one in a backup crash 01/2010, could you share it with me? There's a free version on Vovillia's site, but that one's interior is always red and not so detailed.

ps: Did you change the text color? It's even lighter now, I can hardly see what I'm typing (I actually opened Editor to write this reply there).

I'd like to think that all things tsr is forgiven for their sins as soon as Pooklet's awesome glow touches them ;)
I uploaded the thunderbird here for you -> http://www.mediafire.com/?u8133rr8r0kfb4a

And no, I haven't changed any colours! I think you're going blind :D

That makes me happy to hear! I've been watching a lot of movies set in the 30's lately and I think it's my favourite decade after the 60's. I'm glad my hair fits your theme :D

I fainted, yes, fainted when I saw that store hair Nymphied. I love the store hairs and it's curly. I love them all but that one did it for me. I snagged them all and know that they will abused.

Thank you so much. The curly bob is my favourite as well, it was not what I had intended for that hair when I started but when I tried it it just worked so well, and I've always wanted a curly bob like that :)

This is all so fabulous! I'm especially excited for the curly store hair, as I've always wanted a curly bob in-game! (I have short curly hair and I've always hated the lack of curly hairs in the sims) Thank you so much, you've done such a wonderful job on all of these!

I've always wanted one of these hairs too! When Nymphy's textures were released I went hunting for the perfect hair to put them on but with no luck, I was actually doing something else with this hair when the idea came to me. I'm very pleased.
Thank you :D

Vad mycket snyggt!

Gosh...I've just found this journal and now I'm totally wanting to make a 50's/60's neighborhood. You have quite a lot of beautiful stuff in here, indeed very inspiring.

I'm glad to have found the Xandher and Sunair hairs particularly, as I'm always searching for different maxis-matchy hair meshes. By the way, have you ever seen this hair mesh: http://img7.imageshack.us/i/fullbob.png ? It looked somewhat retro for me, perhaps it could count as a suggestion for you? If you're interested and you don't have it yet, I can send it your way.

Dunno. Just thought you could like it >.< Sorry to be so annoying, I swear it's not on purpose. :P

Oh, thank you! That's very nice to hear :)

I have seen that hair but never as close up as this! Seriously, what's up with the store and those tiny pictures, how are you supposed to know what you're getting?
I do see potential in that hair, depending on how it's mapped and how alpha editable it is. If you send it to me I will have a go at it :)

And suggestions are always welcome, you're not annoying at all!

Thanks - and a question

Thank you for sharing all your fabulous creations! I am not a fan of Pooklet textures (gasp!) but I really like what you've done with them. One question -- can you tell me where I can find what the weird names equate to? That is -- what colors are "dynamite" or "fission" or "landmine" or whatever. Thanks again for sharing.

Oh of course, it's probably ignorant of me thinking that everybody knows which pooklet colours they usually like.
